Recently, Jonah Meyer of the US Review of Books commended “My Recital Day” by Christine Leonardi-Kramer.
Christine Leonardi-Kramer, better known as “Miss Christine,” is a mother, author and dance educator. She spent the last 50 years in the dance world learning from icons like Charles “Chuck” Kelley and passing her knowledge on to the next generation. She taught in NYC before entertaining around the globe with her act “Babe”.
After many years of performing, Miss Christine started her journey as owner of “Great Expectations-A Dance Center” which was a staple of Staten Island for 35 years! She had the joy of teaching generations of families including her own four children. Miss Christine also had the pleasure of working with the Wagner High School Theater Department from 2009-2020.
Miss Christine currently resides in Staten Island, NY where you can find her teaching dance and exercise, leading Zumba classes for adults and senior citizens, or working on her next book.
She is proud to say that the students she inspired have now inspired HER to transform their shared experiences into what you read here. She is so happy to continue sharing her love of the arts with future generations.
“My Recital Day” by Christine Leonardi-Kramer is a charming children’s book that presents the story of a little girl who was getting ready for her dance recital.
This captivating picture book is a perfect gift for young girls who are aspiring to reach their dreams.
Here is an excerpt of the review:
“Author Leonardi-Kramer, who spent fifty years in the dance world and has taught dance to generations of students, has created here a lively, bright, and inspirational children’s picture book. With attractive, full-bleed illustrations of eye-catching color and movement on each and every page, her book delivers joy as it delights the senses. The enthusiasm and love for dance, which the young protagonist in these pages exudes, is contagious from the very start. Children might easily identify with the bit of nervous energy—the butterflies in the stomach—which the young dancer experiences moments before her big show, yet, as is pointed out in the story, there really is nothing at all to be afraid of. She knows her dance routine inside and out and has practiced well and learned so much from her teachers. In the end, she shines, as does this delightful picture book.”
