“Rise from the Blue” by Boade Mandeng follows the journey of John Nobola, an immigrant of color who arrives in the United States filled with hope for a better life. However, his optimism is challenged as he witnesses a shift in the nation’s social and political climate, marked by violence, division, and disillusionment.
As Nobola processes the changing landscape, he voices his concerns through social media, public events, and heartfelt conversations, expressing disappointment in the direction the country seems to be heading. Despite his frustrations, he holds on to hope and acknowledges the efforts of patriotic leaders striving to steer America toward a brighter future.
