Studio of Books proudly showcased Kitty R. Elers’ book titled, “MY BEST DECISION: A Nurse’s Journey through School and Career. A Story for Everyone to Read,” during the 2025 Bologna Children’s Book Fair at Bologna Italy on March 31 to April 3, 2025 at Bologna, Italy.
The Bologna Children’s Book Fair is an internationally renowned event that brings together publishing professionals, authors, illustrators, and storytellers from across the globe. Focused on the exchange of ideas and the buying and selling of publishing rights, it serves as a vital hub for discovering the next big stories in children’s media. For creators and publishers alike, it’s a place where imagination meets opportunity.
Being part of the Book Gallery at Bologna was a proud moment for Studio of Books. It provided a valuable platform to share a thoughtfully curated selection of titles with a global audience of readers, educators, and publishing professionals.
This international showcase not only highlighted the creativity and heart behind each book, but also opened the door to new opportunities, connections, and collaborations across borders—bringing fresh stories to life for children and families around the world.
Nursing was a second career for Kitty R. Elers. She made the decision to enter nursing after working unhappily in a brokerage firm. She attended Burdett College, Laboure School of Nursing, and Northeastern University in Boston to achieve her nursing goals. Working as a volunteer has been a very important part of her life.
She has volunteered for the Red Cross, Hope Hospice, and Medical Reserve Corp. of Massachusetts (assisting with disasters). Combining nursing and volunteer work enhanced her compassion for caring.
She is also a member of the Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society, NU Chapter. Certified Hypnotherapist through Touch Therapy and Holistic Healing Lodge. She studied Reiki and received master’s certificate in 1998. She is also a recipient of the Presidents Service Award Points of Light Bronze Award for her continued commitment of volunteer service 2017.
“MY BEST DECISION: A Nurse’s Journey through School and Career. A Story for Everyone to Read.” Is a beautiful journey of a nursing practitioner. The author has a decorated career working for hospitals, individual patients, prison facilities and even in the Middle East.
This inspiring book is a real treat for all to read. Some of her memories include encountering live bats at night on one of the units, meeting up with her own Dr. McDreamy, ballet lessons at midnight, and experiencing the gulf war with scud attacks while nursing in Saudi Arabia.
