The inspiration for “Magical Mutonia: A Tale of a Strange Music Planet,” a fantasy adventure narrative, dates back to when the author was just two years old and began taking dance lessons at Mae Murry Dance Studio. She thrived in this environment, even winning a small dance competition on TV.
At age ten, her mother found an art teacher who introduced her to the classical, realistic style, sparking a lifelong passion for both art and dance. At six, she also began piano lessons with strict daily practice rules, which she dutifully followed.
Throughout her years, she studied with various teachers, eventually honing her piano skills under the guidance of Edith Knox, a Juilliard graduate who learned advanced theory from a Russian professor tutored by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
After college, the author became a piano teacher, but it wasn’t until after her marriage that she began to study writing. Growing up surrounded by writers, thanks to her father-in-law’s influential career at Universal Pictures, she developed an understanding of the art of storytelling, which ultimately sparked her creativity and led to this unique tale.
